Pace Development Group Honored with Best Historic Renovation Award at 2025 MAME Awards

We are thrilled to announce that Pace Development Group has been recognized by the Home Builders Association of Charlotte with the prestigious "Best Historic Renovation" award at the 2025 MAME Awards for our work on a magnificent 1890’s Victorian farmhouse in Lincoln County, NC. This extraordinary property, once owned by a North Carolina Governor, presented both incredible opportunities and unique challenges to restore it to its original splendor.

One of the most fascinating aspects of this renovation was working with materials deeply connected to the property itself. The house was built on stones from the property, and the oak and walnut used throughout the home—from the elegant paneling to the distinctive flooring—was milled from trees on the farm. These materials underwent professional kiln drying at Carolina Urban Lumber before being transformed into unique alternating patterns to match original millwork.

Preserving the authentic character of a 19th-century home while ensuring modern functionality required exceptional craftsmanship and creative problem-solving. We meticulously matched original wood corbels so that new and historic elements blend seamlessly. The eight original fireplaces venting through two chimneys were reimagined as three larger, wood-burning fireplaces that meet modern safety codes with redesigned flue systems, and were carefully matched to maintain exterior symmetry.

The transformation of this beautiful home was not just a renovation, but a preservation of architectural integrity. We are grateful for this rare opportunity to breathe new life into a piece of North Carolina history.
